The CWMU Association exists to conserve wildlife and its habitat, educate its members as to their role in wildlife and habitat management, and to facilitate sustainable management of all wildlife populations and the privately-owned lands they inhabit, and to foster cooperation between private and public wildlife and land manager agencies to the benefit of both wildlife and Utah citizens.
Association members recognize that proper management of wildlife and its habitat is beneficial to the citizens of Utah. Association members believe that healthy, diverse populations of animals and plants for appreciative and hunting purposes can be provided through the use of traditional and modern agricultural practices and standard wildlife management techniques.
The Cooperative Wildlife Management Unit (CWMU) program has opened more than two million acres of private land to the public, benefiting the state's economy and wildlife.
More than 200 unused private vouchers have been reissued by the UDWR for an alternate CWMU willing to allow a not-for-profit entity to hunt a big game animal
